Babies star in movies at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital

“Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital is pleased to share with our community the expansion of the health and wellness services available to area residents with the addition of new ultrasound equipment,” announces Bill Sexton, Chief Executive Officer. “This is another example of Prairie du Chien Memorial’s commitment to enhance our skills to deliver top quality care to our friends and neighbors. This equipment will further enhance our physicians’ ability to diagnose our patients and clients. This is the latest and best technology available, no other facility in our area has it.”

Tim Clark, RDCS RVT, Director of Medical Imaging, explains some of the features of the system. He says, “We have purchased a Toshiba Aplio XG System. The technology provides incredibly sharp images of breast tissue, liver, gallbladder, thyroid, and other tissues and organs. High definition motion images can also capture abnormalities of the heart and vascular system. Prenatal ultrasounds allow parents to see their baby before the baby’s birth. With 4D ultrasound, you can see the baby’s face and also see the baby in motion-truly amazing views of the baby.”

“Those first glimpses of baby as they move, stretch and yawn provide a positive bonding experience for family members,” adds Tim Clark. “Besides providing beautiful pictures and moving images of the baby, we are able to evaluate fetal number, viability, position, amniotic fluid volume and placental location. We could also potentially identify the sex of your baby for you, if you really want to know. And you’ll get a CD of your pictures to take home the same day.”
