Childbirth Education Classes scheduled at PdC Memorial Hospital

“Having a baby is one of the most important events of a lifetime. Being a good parent starts before the baby is born; you can affect your child’s health in a positive manner right from the start with proper prenatal care,” says Chris Schroeder, RN, OB Clinical Coordinator at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.

Memorial Hospital’s Education Department has scheduled Childbirth Education Classes on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 18, June 20, September 19, and November 14. Childbirth Education Refresher Classes and Breastfeeding Classes are scheduled by appointment. The classes are held in the Polodna Health Learning Center on the main level of the hospital.

Chris Schroeder adds, “During the Childbirth Education Classes, we explain the numerous changes that happen to the body during pregnancy, share up-to-date information on labor and delivery, and explain the various techniques that will enable a birth with dignity and confidence.”

Individuals wanting to register for a class are encouraged to call early in their pregnancy to plan to attend a class that fits their needs. Memorial Hospital’s Obstetrics Department offers Nutrition and Exercise Information, Newborn Care Education, Baby Feeding and Breastfeeding Classes, Breast Pump Rentals, Infant Hearing Screening, Designer Breakfast, a complimentary half-hour Massage Therapy session, and also a complimentary follow-up visit to the home by a Home Care nurse.

Also to assist new parents, Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital’s Family Resource Center offers Family and Friends CPR, Free Car Seat Installation and Checks, Car Seat Rentals, Infant Massage, Toy/Baby Equipment Lending Library and Parent Resource Library.
